Poor Man's Stock Exchange Index Monitor, v1.0 13-03-2011

Monitor.CMD displays a stock exchange index with a local time stamp, at
least once. On all weekdays between 8:56 o'clock and 17:40 o'clock, the
index value is displayed about each 14-15 seconds. Please do not change
this interval to less than 10 seconds, for one because an index is also
calculated with an interval of several seconds. An output sample (not a
weekday, so the stock exchange index is displayed just once) reads:

13 Mar 2011 16:27:31 - 359,07

To install: the excluded utility WGet is required to download the data.
Monitor.CMD itself is written in plain Rexx, so it should work with any
OS/2 Rexx interpreter

To use it: adjust the ISIN-code (@line 12 of Monitor.CMD) to change the
stock exchange index to be displayed. Today's available indices are the
AEX (Netherlands), BEL20 (Belgium), CAC40 (France) or PSI20 (Portugal).
The default index in use is the AEX-index (ISIN-code: NL0000000107).

To uninstall: delete Monitor.CMD, and possibly its temporary file INDEX

Adjustments: unsupported, but obviously it isn't that hard to e.g. show
the index only when a certain index value-limit was exceeded. It's also
easy to change the VIO output window size with e.g. a "MODE 32,256".

Wishlist item #1: a fine eCenter-widget displaying (at least) the value
Wishlist item #2: error detection, like not receiving (changing) data
Wishlist item #3: an interval automatically matching real intervals
Wishlist item #4: an *.EXE, instead of Rexx, without requiring WGet
Wishlist item #5: support more data sources and more indices
Wishlist item #6: an UI, perhaps even a proper PM GUI
Wishlist item #7: smart, soft-coded HTML parsing
Wishlist item #8: a larger app, to embed this

Support: none, basicly. Websites typically are subject to many changes,
and both the data source used and Monitor.CMD are free, with a matching
quality. It's what it is, and that's it.
